Almost all political candidates know, at least in general terms, what they believe and what they want to do.  Fewer have thought through the details of what needs to be done and why.  And still fewer of those candidates have put those details in writing in a clear and persuasive way, so that their voters can know with precision what their elected representitive's priorities are.  Many don't take that last step because they don't want to be held accountable to the voters.  Constitutional Conservatives and Constitutional Entrepreneurs must do better.  Many voters are at least suspicious, if not downright hostile to what we believe.  In most cases, it's because they've been given bad information year after year by political leaders in both parties, by the media, and by academia.  They've come to a deeply held, emotional conviction that being dependent on Big Government is the answer to their problems.

Breaking that kind of thinking will only happen if they can be shown that their worldview does not match reality, and that the long-term best interests of themselves, their families, and their communities are better served by taking another path.  That path does not depend on age, race/ethnicity, gender or so many of the other categories that divide us.

Convincing our fellow citizens to take that other path, to choose leaders who will help focus our effort, will not be accomplished bumper sticker slogans or marches and demonstrations.  It will require getting out of our comfort zones, not just talking with our political base, and continuously engaging in clear and winsome conversations with our fellow citizens who disagree with us.  It's not enough to just be in send mode.  We have to listen and thoughtfully engage with our minds and hearts, demonstrating that we want the very best, even for those who disagree with us.

The Political Position Descriptions developed by Vertex Decisions are intended to help facilitate those conversations.

With that purpose in mind those Position Descriptions...

  • Cover a wide range of Political Issues.  The Political Issue List contains the title and key features of each Position.
  • Are intended to serve as a starting point, to be tailored by each political campaign.  However, candidates may also use them in their entirety, unmodified.
  • Are normally licensed as a complete package to the political campaigns of individual candidates for their use during the 2018 election cycle.  Click here to learn more about costs and key features of the licensing agreement.  Candidates may...
    • Use as many or as few of the Political Position Descriptions as they want.
    • Tailor the content to align with their own style, needs, and preferences.

This package of Political Position Descriptions includes...

  • Both a Summary Description and a Comprehensive Description for each Political Issue.
    • These descriptions are intended to remain fairly consistent over the course of the campaign.
    • Each Position Description includes questions that we can use in conversations with those who disagree with us.
    • They are intended primarily to be the basis for the set of pages on a candidate's web site describing the candidate's stand on specific issues.  Excerpts may be used in other campaign communications, such as in emails to supporters.
    • The package includes 10 hours of Vertex Decisions consulting to help tailor the out-of-the-box versions to your preferences.  Most if not all of that consulting can be done remotely, via phone calls or video conferences.  Any required Vertex Decision travel in conjunction with this consulting is not included in the base price, but would be billed separately.
    • These descriptions will be updated by Vertex Decisions over the course of the 2018 Election Cycle at no additional charge.
  • Periodic Short Bulletins (usually one every 1-2 weeks) that describe how the general perspective on a Constitutional Entrepreneur is tied to high profile news events of national interest.
    • Example: How a Constitutional Entrepreneur might respond to the school shooting in Parkland, Florida on on February 14th.
    • Candidates may request that Vertex Decisions develop Periodic Short Bulletins in response to particular events.

Vertex Decisions has developed a sample set of Political Position Descriptions to help you decide whether to license the entire package for use by your campaign.  All of the Political Position Descriptions in the package (including those in the sample set) are copyrighted by Vertex Decisions, and may not be used until they are licensed from Vertex Decisions.
