Ultimately, nations get the governments that they deserve.  For over 100 years the United States has gradually come to be more and more dominated by socialistic ideas and leaders (primarily in the Democrat Party).  Also, these socialistic leaders and establishment, corporate welfare Republicans have often voted as though Government’s primary purpose is to shower favors on their favorite corporations and business executives.  The result has been a Federal government that has preached a false compassion, while at the same time has damaged those it claims to help.  That Federal Government has…

  • Kept vast numbers of us in a perpetual state of economic stagnation. This includes, for example:
    • Millions in our inner cities who are encouraged and induced to remain in a state of dependency on government.  They see themselves as victims and as being entitled to use the government to steal from others to meet their personal needs and desires.
    • The most economically vulnerable among us have had their wages suppressed by a flood of poorly educated, low skilled illegal immigrants.
  • Grossly violated the Constitution by performing functions that the Constitution says should be done by the states and people, and paid for it by loading trillions in debt on our children and grandchildren.
  • Implemented policies that promoted special interests, instead of the general welfare of American citizens as a whole. Those special interests may be, for example, corporations or groups of corporations, or groups of people (such as illegal immigrants) who get unearned benefits or advantages from the Federal Government.

As tempting as it is to just focus on the leaders who have brought us here, our more fundamental opposition is to the ideas they have sold us.  We’re still responsible for selecting our leaders.  We chose whether to compliantly accept their ideas: their explanations and answers.  So first, we must examine ourselves: see how these socialistic and corporate welfare ideas have infected us, and then purge ourselves.

The two sets of beliefs that have proven to be so toxic are…

  • Ideas that are not just Socialistic, but Totalitarian as well.   These ideas are at the root of the solutions pushed by virtually all leaders of the Democrat, Socialist, and Communist parties.
    • A Government is socialistic when it…
      • Controls factories, other infrastructure, employment, raw materials, natural resources and other parts of the economy through extensive regulation or government ownership. This contrasts with letting people and companies freely make decisions in the market place about what they want to buy and sell, and the conditions under which employees and employers exchange labor for wages and other kinds of compensation.
      • Encourages dependence on Government instead of promoting self-reliance and personal responsibility.
    • Describing socialistic dogma (as it has developed in the United States) as totalitarian may seem harsh, but it is both accurate and necessary.
      • The word totalitarian had a very positive, desirable meaning for many of its early promoters (the German and Italian Fascists in the 1920’s to 1945). They were deliberately building a society in which the government controlled virtually all aspects of social life, including the economy, education, art, science, and the private life and thoughts of its citizens. These promoters, not their opponents, described their ideal society as Totalitarian.
      • Totalitarian Socialism has advanced incrementally. Modern socialism in the United States has advanced largely by appealing to companies and other groups who take much more from government than they contribute.  Key goals of current American totalitarian socialism include autocratically…
        • Driving whole industries out of business (such as the coal industry), and destroying the jobs of millions who work in those industries.  The socialists then prop up their own favored industries (such as the solar power industry) with tax payer subsidies and regulatory requirements (even though most solar panels are manufactured in China).
        • Making more and more Americans increasingly dependent on the Federal Government. Most recently the Federal Government took over the healthcare system with Obamacare. Millions of us of all ethnicities  and races have become trapped as victims of welfare (more whites are on welfare than blacks). Increasing government dependency goes all the way back to the 1930’s when the socialists gave us the unsustainable Ponzi scheme we call Social Security, which younger Americans will pay into, but from which they will not see significant payouts. Keeping the interest on our national debt low (in part because of Social Security) also damages our senior citizens' ability to support themselves reliably, by making the interest they earn on their private savings almost zero.  Socialism has an insatiable appetite for keeping us dependent on it, instead of being free.
        • Regulating business and private life down the most minor detail. Examples: mandating transgender bathrooms and how large our soft drinks can be.
        • Imposing a coercive political correctness that…
          • Curtails free speech if approved groups of people are offended.  But if you’re not in an approved group, you can be offended at government expense.  Example: the Christian crucifix in jar of urine that was displayed in the National Gallery of Art.
          • Intimidates opponents by claiming that any deviation from that coercive political correctness is racist, sexist, Islamophobic, etc. and will not be tolerated.  Claims that racism and sexism can only be perpetuated by white men and not by women or ethnic minorities.
      • Modern Totalitarian Socialists often call themselves as Progressives, because that word has positive connotations associated with improvement and better conditions. But progress toward totalitarian socialism is no improvement.  We should start the battle by using language that reflects reality and does not give our opponents an undeserved advantage.  We need to…
        • Understand Totalitarian Socialist ideas, reject the extent to which we have held them, and replace them with beliefs and solutions that are both entrepreneurial and fully Constitutional.
        • Call these “Progressive” ideas and the leaders who impose them what they are: Socialistic and Totalitarian.
        • Emphasize the suffering and millions of deaths that have occurred when these beliefs control whole countries: Nazi Germany and fascist Italy, the former Soviet Union and Maoist China, modern North Korea and Venezuela.
        • Remind people that it was Progressive Democrats who…
          • Welcomed the KKK into the Whitehouse and jailed opposition journalists (President Woodrow Wilson).
          • Created the welfare system that has destroyed huge numbers of black families (President Johnson in the 1960’s),
          • Used national intelligence systems to spy on journalists and his political opponents and made the United States the second largest state sponsor of terrorism by giving $1.5 billion to Iran (President Obama).
        • Remind people that Hillary Clinton said that she wanted to be a Progressive Democrat in the mold of Presidents Wilson, Johnson, and Obama.

  • Corporate Welfare promoters use the power of Government (especially the Federal Government) to give advantages to their big business supporters. Examples of these advantages include…
    • Giving some businesses monetary subsidies or regulatory advantages over their competitors,
    • Giving huge corporations and their executives tax breaks that allow them to pay no Federal income tax or very little.  For example, Amazon had revenue of over $135 billion in 2016, but paid no Federal Income Tax.
    • Suppressing the wages of low and medium income Americans by encouraging a flood of poorly educated illegal immigrants with low skill levels.  Example: the Chamber Of Commerce's support for amnesty for low-skilled DACA participants without exception.
    • Forcing taxpayers to subsidize the benefits that some businesses give to their employees, and
    • Exempting favored companies, such as health insurance companies, from anti-trust laws.

Both Democrat and many Republican representatives and senators vote for laws that promote Corporate Welfare.   They are all part of the “Swamp” in Washington, DC that President Trump has promised to drain.

Corporate Welfare Republicans do not fundamentally disagree with Totalitarian Socialists about the legitimate scope of the Federal Government.  For example, they don’t cut (and have no realistic plans to cut) spending on the unconstitutional functions of Government.  They voted for doubling of the national debt under the Bush Administration, and again under President Obama.

An example of how many House and Senate Republicans have been part of The Swamp was their 2017 votes on Obamacare.  After running for seven years claiming that they favored repealing Obamacare and replacing it with market-based solutions, the majority of Republicans in the House approved a healthcare bill, the American Healthcare Act (ACA), that did not repeal Obamacare.   Instead, those Republicans just made a few relatively minor changes that effectively made it Obamacare Light.  A similar, Obamacare Light bill in the Senate failed because it was opposed by a few Constitutional Conservative Senators.  The Senate then narrowly rejected a clean Obamacare repeal because it was opposed by three Republican Senators who are not up for reelection in 2018.  This narrow defeat gave cover to the other Republican Senators who had voted for Obamacare Light, because they can now tell their constituents that they voted to repeal Obamacare.  But we must remember that, with the exception of those few Constitutional Conservative Senators, the first preference of the vast majority of Republican Senators and Representatives was for Obamacare Light, not a repeal.
